The Challenge

Sale of a regional shopping centre in central Italy. The Megaló mall, opened in 2005, provides more than 48,500 sq m of lettable space with 110 shops on two levels as well as 2,800 parking spaces. Anchor tenants include Media World, Movieland Cinema, Brico Io, H&M, Scarpe&Scarpe as well as Zara.

The Solution

Despite the challenging economic conditions investors continue to be attracted to the good defensive merits of quality, well configured retail assets in good regional locations such as Megalò shopping centre. C&W were pleased to have acted on behalf of SEB and welcome ECE into Italy.

The Results

Acting on behalf of SEB Asset Management, the global property consultant Cushman & Wakefield successfully completed the sale of the Megaló regional shopping centre in Chieti, Central Italy to a fund managed by ECE Project Management. The sale of this regional shopping centre represents the largest shopping centre investment transaction in Italy for 2011.
